Jamie McLaughlin

CEO

Jamie’s career has included roles leading, coaching, advocating, advising, and inspiring before founding J. H. McLaughlin & Co. in 2010.

While he now “leads from behind,” he brings to bear deep, applied operating experience across multiple wealth management platforms to solve problems.

He’s an artisan who likes to build things framed by design and watch them grow. He recognizes patterns, has a keen sense of time and distance, and can look around corners to forecast trends and articulate solutions before they’re fully formed. Jamie has a genuine interest in people and their stories. He tends to be open and direct. In the search for truth, he is unafraid.

Experience

Jamie has over 30 years of experience in both senior operating roles and client-facing roles in the ultra-high net worth and family office segments of the industry.  Previously, he was CEO of Geller Family Office Services, a partner at Convergent Wealth Advisors where he built the firm’s New York office, the regional president of Mellon Private Wealth Management’s New York region, and a financial advisor at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc., where he started in the wealth management industry.

He is a Co-Founder of The UHNW Institute.

In 2021, Jamie was the recipient of the Family Wealth Report Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.

Earlier in his career, Jamie served in the Connecticut General Assembly for a decade as a two-term State Representative and a three-term State Senator.  In 1985, the Hartford Courant named him one of Connecticut’s “10 Best Legislators.”

Immediately following his college graduation, Jamie served as the Head Soccer Coach at Lafayette College, his alma mater. At the time, he was the youngest head coach of a Division I sport in America.

Jamie earned a bachelor’s degree in History from Lafayette College and a Master’s in Public Administration degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
